The MEMSCAP SP854 Reusable Biomedical Pressure Transducer is used in biomedical applications where high precision and a wide pressure measurement range are required. (-600/+700 mmHg). Its high bandwidth enables a high frequency response and provides unique signal resolution.
The transducer is composed of two parts, a SP854 sensing core and a mounting bracket.
The SP854 sensing core is made upon a similar design as the standard SP844 MEMSCAP physiological transducer. The mounting bracket is designed for assembly on an equipment panel. The combination of a SP854 sensing core and a mounting bracket represents the SP854 transducer.
The picture below shows an example of the SP854-01 transducer, with a mounting bracket assembled to the sensing core, and a plastic dome next to it.
The SP854 transducer is to be mounted on a machine where the front part of the transducer is the only visible part for the end user. Front of the machine can be exposed to 9% saline and cleaning agents. The transducer is sealed in the front to withstand the fluids. One must not use any cleaning agents containing iodide. The gold plated surface finish makes the cleaning procedure more easily and to make it resistant to saline.
The rear of the transducer is inside the machine. The ventilation hole in the transducer is placed on the rear i.e. inside the machine, which forms the atmospheric pressure reference point.

The standard connector used is a molex housing UL94V-0 (no flammable) type 39-01-2045 with molex type 39000046 terminals. The connector mates with several connectors either for panel-, board- or cable mounting.
A special designed disposable plastic dome 854-23 is made for use with the SP854 transducer.
